ASL Occupations Professions Level 2 Practice Test

In ASL, many occupation signs are formed by pairing a field-related root with a sign that marks the person in that role. For a technician, the field is technology, so the root sign is tech. Adding the agent (the person who performs the job) gives you a sign that means a person who works in technology—a technician. Using a sign for a tool or a device would refer to objects, not the job title, and would not convey the professional role. A sign for mechanic would specify a different occupation. So tech plus agent is the natural, accurate way to express technician.
